After more than a year of waiting, our second glimpse into the world of Los Santos has finally arrived. Originally scheduled to release several weeks ago, Rockstar games [finally] reveals their second trailer around 10 this morning (central time).
November 14– With a running time of 1 minute and 50 seconds, trailer number 2 opens to Stevie Wonder’s “Skeletons”, and a beautiful suburban home as the soundtrack’s backdrop. Michael’s wife, Amanda, and their teenage daughter, Tracy, are arguing over a boy staying the night. Michael takes the easy route, and walks away into his immaculate backyard over looking downtown Los Santos. Lounging poolside, with drink in hand, he begins to reflect on the route to his retirement.
We are shaken from Michael’s luxurious lifestyle to Trevor’s violently trashy one. We meet Trevor while he is beating a man’s head into a wall; the next shot of him tossing a molotov cocktail into a desolate looking home. Clearly, we can begin seeing Michael and Trevor’s drastic differences in a few short seconds of footage, and how much of a “wild card” Trevor truly is. During Trevor’s showcase, we can see a glimpse of a dune buggy. Possibly, a new vehicle available for the game?
We then meet the little known Franklin. Walking with his friend, Lamar, Franklin stops and asks Michael if he knows where Berto beach house is located. Possibly how Franklin and Michael meet? As the trailer begins to paint Franklin’s picture for us, we learn that he has a girlfriend that is clearly unhappy with his lifestyle choices. We also learn, in the next clip, he is not in a gang nor does he condone drug dealing, as he is arguing with Lamar over Lamar’s exact life choices.
We can also see in the trailer that Michael is seeing a therapist- discussing his strained relationship with his son, James. In one of the first missions demoed by Game Informer for their December issue, they explain that Michael introduces Franklin to Trevor. In the trailer, we see this introduction as Michael introduces Franklin to Trevor as, “the son I always wanted.”
Showing off the RAGE engine (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine), we can certainly see how beautifully realistic Los Santos is shaping up to be. Hopefully, that’s enough to sate us until a [hopeful] trailer 3 launches at some point.
‘Grand Theft Auto V’ will hit shelves this coming Spring.
