Consistency. A quality you like to find in a restaurant or wine bar. The Wine Bar in Old Town La Quinta provides exactly that.
The Wine Bar, located at 78-0815 Main Street, La Quinta is a place you can go for wine, relaxation and light meals. Its ambiance is punctuated by it being half restaurant and bar, half a wine selection room. It also has an outside patio with heaters for cooler winter nights.
The size of the Wine Bar is just about perfect. It seats in the main room 40 people, with outside seating for another 25 – 30. Because of the limited size, the noise to enjoyment factor is ideal.
Here’s how it works. After entering the bar and being seated, you can order wines directly from the menu or you can go into the adjacent wine room and make a selection from the more than 100 wines in stock. Prices of the wines range from under $20.00 to over $100.00. There is a type, variety and price point for all guests.
After making a selection from the wine room, your server will open the bottle for you (no corkage for in-store purchased wines) and serve you and your party. At that point you can order from the menu.
Menu items are primarily Tapas style, small plates being the norm. Perhaps the best deal on the menu is the Lobster Bisque. For $8.00 you get a large bowl of Bisque and a choice of either Garlic Bread or a Panini style Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Other selections include Cheese Plates, Sandwiches, Pizzas, and a great Olive Plate.
The available wines, in addition to being fairly priced, demonstrate a nice selection of both Old and New World wines. It can be hard to make a selection initially due to the large variety and the quality of wines on site.
Now, back to consistency. It’s easy to have one “good” or one “bad” experience at a restaurant or dining facility. With the Wine Bar in Old Town, you will find a “good” experience on each visit.
If you are there when Robert, the owner is available, you can get a personal tour of the Wine Room and an explanation of why he selected each of the wines. You get personal and detailed information about the wines and regions the store carries.
We have also been served by Sandy, who, as she puts it, is Robert’s sidekick and is the Manager when Robert is not there. In either case, it’s a great place to eat, enjoy wine and have fun discussions in a very friendly and convivial atmosphere.
The Wine bar in Old Town La Quinta is definitely a place to visit when in the desert.
