4 Jan – “An Introduction to Federal Court Records” will be presented by Arlene Royer. The First Friday Freebies will meet from 12-1p.m. at the National Archives at Atlanta, 5780 Jonesboro Rd, Morrow, GA 30260. The historian will learn how to research court records. The program is free; no registration is required, for information call 770-968-2100.
6 Jan – “Help! I need technology help!” Bring your questions such as scanning, email attachments, external hard drives, and software. Everyone is welcome from beginners to advanced researchers. Come with your questions; expect an answer. Our Genealogy Group meets monthly at Clayton State University, 2000 Clayton State Blvd, Morrow, GA 30260. The meetings are held in the library, L200 from 3-5p.m.
8 Jan DATE CHANGE – The Friends of the National Archives monthly webinar will be “Lights, Camera, Action!” presented by Sandra Crowley. The webinars are held monthly on the second Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time; attend from the comfort of your home. Registration is free at Friends website.
11 Jan – “Using the Collections of the Georgia Archives” will be presented by Kayla Barrett. The free monthly Lunch and Learn Lecture Series will be held at the Georgia Archives, 5800 Jonesboro Rd, Morrow, GA 30260 from 12-1p.m. For more information, call 768-364-3730.
11 Jan – “Getting Started with Genealogy” presented by Dana Anderson will assist family historians with basic techniques. 15 Jan – “Memories of Doraville-From pioneer stock to Southern rock!” will be presented by Bob Kelley at the monthly DeKalb History Center Lunch and Learn. The program will be held at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse, 101 E. Court Square, Decatur. For more information see the website.

28 Jan – “Research Tips” will be presented by Elizabeth Olson. The program is sponsored by the Genealogy study group. The group will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the Northlake-Barbara Loar Library, 3772 Lavista Rd, Tucker, GA 30084.

22 Jan – Genealogy Society of Cobb County monthly meeting will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 189 Church St, Marietta, GA. “Genealogical Proof Standard: Harnessing the Power of Indirect Evidence” will be presented by Susan Sloan. The meeting is open to the public and meets 7-8p.m.
