Hubert McCloud has reached another goal in his life and encourages others to maintain their focus on their dreams. McCloud will be officiating in Jacksonville, Florida during one of the Jacksonville Giants’ home games in an upcoming basketball event. He has proven that perseverance, trust in God and dedication will give you the reward of your desires. This columnist just-so-happens to have known Mr. McCloud for many years, and is one of his Public Relations clients.
About Hubert McCloud: In 1988, McCloud joined the Florida National Guard and then transferred to the United States Army. In 1991, he served in “Desert Storm” and “Provide Comfort”. After returning home to St Petersburg in 1992, Hubert answered a job opening that was to direct him to his destiny. Working as an Americorp*VISTA for a local non-profit organization (who at that time was operating a “Hoops After Dark” basketball program), Hubert was asked to promote and energize the program so it could stay viable in the community.
This was where he learned that Public Relations and Event Organizing would be the career field that he could excel at while helping others along the way. Through hands-on experience, writing press releases, drafting sponsorship and donation letters, planning, organizing and executing special events, his passion enveloped. Within one year after promoting the program though the local media and drawing attention from the Mayor’s office, the program drew corporate & city financial support along with making an impact on the community.
In 1995 McCloud & Associates Public Relations Agency was opened to promote non-profit organizations and small to mid-size businesses, that cannot afford the bigger PR Agencies. Hubert has helped many people and organizations to see and reach their goals. The same reasons and principles that drove him to step-out still holds strong today: “Fundamental Techniques Equate Success!”
Another milestone has been achieved in Hubert’s life. For the past 17 years he has officiated high school basketball and 5 years of colligate women’s basketball. In the summer of 2012, Hubert was offered a chance to attend an American Basketball Association (ABA) official’s try-out where he was hired. January of 2013, he will officiate his first ABA game in Jacksonville, Fl. “Football was always my first love in sports but when you are advancing in an area, continue to follow it to see where it may lead you”, said Hubert.
Hubert McCloud proves that you can be a “Jack of all trades and a Master of all”.
