It’s one of the most important holidays of the year. I’m talking about Thanksgiving and for one day, we eat, watch football and then eat some more– all while giving thanks for what we have and living in a great country.
Even though Thanksgiving is somewhat forgotten, as it is sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas, there are still some apps we can download that might enhance our enjoyment of Thanksgiving. If that is possible.
With 250,000 recipes, a grocery list and menu planning tips, the BigOven app should be your first stop when planning your Thanksgiving holiday. BigOven is all about planning, and that is half the battle when you invite 20-25 friends and family members over for the holiday. Glance at complete menus that have been uploaded by other and then take pictures and add your own recipes. There is a lot going here with this app, so take some time and let it simmer. Available for both iPhone and Android.
You may be watching the football on television this Thanksgiving and you see the coaches barking out the orders for the team. Well, Chow will be your dinner coach and so much more. The app will assist you in giving tutorials on how to make your turkey, gravy and dessert. It also provides an ongoing list of items you will need and as has a timer feature. Give it a try for your iOS device, it’s free.
Whack A Turkey
You can “get” the turkey in more ways than one this Thanksgiving. On your iPhone or iPad, you can use your fingers to tap on the turkey’s head. Similar to whack-a-mole, and lot’s of fun. It’s 99 cents and worth it.
This app is quite entertaining and is sure to keep the kids occupied on the long car ride to Aunt Carol’s house. You get to take out some frustration here and use your fingers to pluck the turkey of its feathers. Take into account such factors as time and wind to make it a challenge. Available for both iPhone and Android, and it’s only 99 cents.
Thanksgiving Coloring Book
The app has various images (Turkeys, Pumpkins, and Pilgrims) you can draw, and also a variety of colors you can experiment with. Kids love these drawing apps for your smartphone or tablet. Instead of having a physical copy of your drawing, they can be posted on Twitter or Facebook. An iOS app.
Bonus: TGIBlack Friday
What would Thanksgiving be without talking about Black Friday. In fact, Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving night at many retailers this year. This app contains many deals and offers spread out in categories for stores of multiple items. (Ace Hardware, Walmart, etc.) iPhone and Android versions are available.
Have a safe Thanksgiving, and save me a piece of pumpkin pie.
