The New Year signals a time for change and it’s tradition to use resolutions to accomplish this goal. The dead of winter, however, when growth is at a virtual standstill, is not the time to spring forward into a new you; save it for springtime.
The brilliant, Dr. Wayne Dyer, tells us:
“Forget about those New Year’s resolutions in which you decide on the first day of January how you will be conducting your life for the next twelve months. Instead, set up day-to-day goals for yourself, and then resolve to begin living with present moment awareness for the rest of your life.
When you get good at living your present moments one day at a time, you’ll see yourself changing right before your own surprised eyes.
Remember, anyone can do anything for just one day, so tune out the sentences that keep you locked into your old self-defeating ways and begin to enjoy each day of your bright new year.
What are some things you’ve wanted to do for yourself, one day at a time?”
We don’t need more of anything – we need less
Now is the time to release that which is no longer contributing to our highest good. It’s tempting to think that we need more of something – education, insight, good habits, good circumstances, etc., in order to live our lives to the fullest and find actualized self-expression.
But, even Michelangelo knew the pieta was in the marble….all he had to do was chip away the excess stone to reveal it.
So, we don’t need more of anything – we need to release that which holds us back from our good.
Negative personality traits are the stumbling blocks on the road to success, health, wealth, and freedom from the grip of fear-based consciousness like anxiety, stress, and dis-ease.
How astrology helps us discover our purpose in life
As we say goodbye to 2012, this is a great time to cleanse ourselves of one more layer of negative qualities and conditions so that we can direct more energy to cultivating the positive qualities of our personality and fulfill the destiny of our soul.
Astrological insights can provide us with information that we can apply through the use of free will to chip away the excess marble of our personality and allow the masterpiece of our being-ness to be fully expressed.
In other words, astrology cuts right to the quick of our negative personality traits and shows us how to overcome them so that we can more fully express the positive qualities of our Sun sign, which is our Zodiacal purpose.
Expressing these positive qualities leads us to self-actualization, and all that this state encompasses in terms of sense of oneness, and connection to the divine within. It is from this state of self-actualization that we operate and discover what is popularly known as our ‘bliss.’
These negative personality traits are qualities in us that bring lessons to us that we don’t like: difficulties in relationships, struggles with intimacy, addictions, problems with authority, chronic dis-eases, poor stress management skills, inability to sustain employment, financial crises, emotional crises, spiritual crises, and the list goes on and on.
In the system of astrology, expressing the positive qualities of our Sun sign and overcoming the patterns associated with the negative qualities of our Sun sign is the path to actualizing our oneness.
Astronomically, each of the planets comes from the Sun. In the horoscope, the function of each of the planets represents our link to our oneness. Listening to their messages in our chart is one of life’s many amazing tools to help us find our way home.
As you become aware that you’re expressing one or more of your Sun sign’s negative personality traits there is a path to reversing the pattern of negativity: focus on at least one of your sign’s positive personality traits and in a positive manner begin expressing this.
For example, Aquarius may notice she’s being unpredictable and can look for ways to immediately be helpful. Or, Scorpio may become aware that he’s been a bit too sarcastic all day and in an effort to turn it around, finds ways to be efficient.
Focus on the positive in a positive way and you fulfill your Zodiacal destiny and ultimately your soul’s purpose in this life.
These keywords by the magnificent astrologer, Myrna Lofthus, are tools that will help assess your behavior so that you can express your highest self, and be on the lookout for the negative traits that block your good.
