Although Stephen Amell of “Arrow” has become the most recent casting candidate for the role of Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, “The Vampire Diaries’” Ian Somerhalder proves in an MTV interview posted this Wednesday, Nov. 21, that he knows quite well how Christian would act in real-life scenarios, particularly those involving volunteer opportunities.
Wet Paint reports this Wednesday that Ian Somerhalder recently had an interview with MTV in which he talked about a variety of topics, from the casting role of Christian Grey and the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film to the importance of charity (Somerhalder is known for his passion for volunteering and philanthropy away from the camera set and “50 Shades” talk).
The Damon actor on “The Vampire Diaries” was initially only asked to talk about the importance of youth reaching out to help stop animal violence and that of charity acts. Of course, talk of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie reared its sexy head into the conversation before long, and Ian Somerhalder opened up not necessarily on casting, but how the illustrious Christian Grey might respond to real volunteerism in regards to Somerhalder’s foundation.
“Okay, let’s discuss Christian Grey. No, we promise we’re not going to ask if you got the role!” laughed Danica Davidson, a blogger for MTV. “We want to know if you think Mr. Grey would ever volunteer or help with your [charity] foundation? What might he do?”
“Of course [Christian] would volunteer for the foundation,” smiled Somerhalder, perhaps relieved not to have to respond that (unfortunately so) no official casting news on any potential roles have been given by the great EL James on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie just yet. “Grey is a total sucker for challenge and opportunity … He would somehow [learn to] harness the corporate world to serve and obey the mission of the foundation … doing it with a sparkle in his eyes and that smile ‘cross his mouth.”
He added upon being asked about whether dating a woman without any inclination for volunteerism would be a possibility, Ian Somerhalder said that not having a girl participate in charity service would certainly be a “date deal breaker.”
The talented Matt Bomer of “White Collar” again competes against Ian Somerhalder for the top spot of fan favorite as Christian Grey in the “50 Shades” film in the most recent polls, though EL James did tell fans this week that it is still a bit “too early” to think about casting (the pre-planning, directorship, and even writing the script must come first).
Other Christian Grey candidates like Alex Pettyfer, Henry Cavill, Alexander Skarsgard (and now Stephen Amell) are of course also very possible potentials, but through a carefully crafted response (using words that Christian himself would likely use) Ian Somerhalder proved he knows how the CEO lover’s mind certainly works, at least.
