As the fan casting for Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie takes a sharp turn this week with Channing Tatum being reported by Wet Paint this Tuesday, Nov. 28, as the latest favorite with a surprising surge of votes in the polls, Wet Paint also revealed the most recent leads in the running for favorite actor of EL James’ steamy role: Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, and Alexander Skarsgard, along with a few less-known options.
Ian Somerhalder currently leads Wet Paint’s Christian Grey casting poll for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie with almost 50% of fans’ votes. The smoldering “The Vampire Diaries” actor has said he would “more than love to oblige” for the role, although he did confirm to Mr. Porter online earlier in the month that “nothing’s official yet.”
Matt Bomer of “White Collar” continues to keep his nearly neck-and-neck tie with Ian Somerhalder as another very popular fan favorite for the part of Anastasia Steele’s Red Room of Pain lover. The actor has kept mostly quiet on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film for now, but his vast number of supporters on both Facebook and Twitter keep the ever-talented Matt Bomer consistently high in the polls.
Alexander Skarsgard from “True Blood” fame is another vampire like Somerhalder on-screen that has said he would “absolutely” love to take on the role of Christian Grey. He’s made it known he’s a fan of the novels, and could easily step into the part of the CEO with his sexual experience in front of the camera.
Other actors, from Robert Pattinson of “Twilight” (who recently said that “[He] is Christian Grey” in an interview) to Channing Tatum and Stephen Amell of “Arrow,” have also been considered in the Wet Paint poll by some of the lovely “50 Shades” fans as potential stars of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie.
Hopefully some more confirmed news will be released soon, but until then, I think all of us fellow fans can be grateful to Ms. EL James’ inner goddess for creating a character like Christian Grey that makes readers all over the world weak in the knees and ready to submit to his words, wit, and whip.
Who do you want to see as your Christian Grey? Is it one of the actors portrayed in the above slideshow and from the Wet Paint poll, or some dark-horse contender?
