‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie: 2013 could be a great year for one unknown actress

by root shed

The year is quickly coming to a close and since the Mayan prophecies did not materialize, 2013 will soon be underway. So what is to be expected in the coming months? Well for one actress it is going to be a career making year and actress Lauren Watson maybe that lucky one. “Fifty Shades of Grey” will be casting for Ana Steele soon and the Australian beauty has been getting attention for the role. As of December 30 the relatively unknown actress is in second place in The Daily Quirk’s poll on who should play the 21 year old college graduate in the upcoming film adaptation. Lauren Watson has been named in the past but these new poll results may get noticed by the “Fifty Shades” film team.

Placing second in a casting poll may not seem like a big deal but for a relatively unknown actress it means something. Lauren Watson has no major film credits yet was able to beat out big names such as Ashley Greene and Emma Watson. She was overshadowed by only Alexis Bledel who, at 31, many believe is simply too old to realistically play a young college graduate.

Watson, whose age has yet to be disclosed, has the look of a young and naïve woman. This is exactly what is needed for the role of Ana Steele, who loses her innocence while pursuing a relationship with a man hiding a tortured past. Lauren Watson has the physical attributes of the character but not much is known about her acting ability. She has been seen in small roles and has a demo reel posted on IMDB but the true test will be if she is invited to audition for the part. Producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti have not given any details on who is being considered and writer E L James is also mum on the subject but the recent press for Lauren Watson will likely get her noticed by these crucial decision makers.

The actress gave an exclusive interview to Fifty Shades Examiner in September where she proudly confessed to having read the entire trilogy and expressed interest in playing Ana Steele saying, “it is definitely a part I would consider.” Watson also did a little fantasy casting of her own with Chace Crawford her favorite for the role of Christian Grey. Yet she gave kudos to whoever has the difficult task of filling the scrutinized roles admitting, “whoever ends up with the job of casting director has some tough decisions ahead.”

Fans may be anxious for news on “Fifty Shades of Grey” but James and the producers have made it clear that the movie making process takes time. So for now there are plenty of casting polls and fan discussions to be had.
