The dominance of a high pressure area and the lack of storms have been the culprit of what has been a dry November 2012. To date, only 0.95″ of rain has fallen for the month. That’s 2.37″ drier than last November. In addition, only one day (November 11th) has recorded precipitation amounts over 0.25″. Rainfall deficits to date are at -1.78″ and -1.65″ at O’Hare and Rockford, respectively.
High pressure over the region will bring continued dry and unseasonably cool weather today. Temperatures are to gradually warm up as the week progresses and high pressure slides out of the region. Clouds, fog, and the chance for drizzle or light rain increases Thursday night through Saturday ahead of what is to be a very mild open to Meteorological Winter and December. Both Sunday and Monday could see temperatures in the 60s. This will be followed by a dramatic cool down and the possibility of our first accumulating snow event mid to late next week.
