There is only one thing better than hanging out at the local sports bar with a group of your best buds watching the big game enjoying a cold tap beer. That would be relaxing at home with a couple friends watching the big game while enjoying a delicious cold tap beer.
This is now possible without all the hassle and mess of the typical beer keg.
Anheuser-Busch’s new Draftmark Tap System is making this possible. It is being sold now in five U.S. markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, and St. Louis, but it will be found in other cities come 2013. The battery-operated system, which holds one gallon of your favorite brew, fits easily on refrigerator shelves and is designed to quench your thirst with draft beer at home.
The following brands are available with refills: Bass Pale Ale, Budweiser, Michelob AmberBock, Shock Top Belgian White and Shock Top Wheat IPA.
I have the Shock Top Wheat IPA and all I can say is, wow!
From a recent review:
Shock Top Wheat IPA (WIPA) is not a traditional beer. It’s a unique hybrid that brings the refreshment and smoothness of a wheat beer and marries it with the crisp hop bitterness of an IPA. The result is a beer like no other.
Up over +129% for the year, the Shock Top brand family is growing fast.* Additionally, highend craft total is +21% and total IPAs are +49%.
That makes WIPA the perfect beer to satisfy consumers’ thirst for variety in the wheat beer category.
The Draftmark is really a high tech beer keg, but the principles behind it are quite simple.
“The Draftmark tap system employs a complex technology that results in a simple and intuitive user experience,” states Pat McGauley, vice president of innovation at Anheuser-Busch. “One of the unique traits of Draftmark’s technology is that the beer never comes in contact with the appliance or air until it touches your glass, providing one of the freshest ways to experience draught beer in the comfort of your home.”
McGauley goes on to explain a little of the technology of the Draftmark.
“To keep the user experience as simple as possible, Draftmark was designed to use air to keep the right pressure for the flow-rate, so no CO2 is needed.”
Once opened, Draftmark keeps the beer fresh for 30 days. The other markets where Draftmark is available are Cincinnati and San Diego.
It’s really a cool device and will surely get some compliments from friends. It makes a great holiday gift.
