Cyber Monday is gone but the excitement of online shopping is just getting started. Over 200 retailers including Walmart, Kmart, Target, Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot, and Amazon.com are part of the ShopDiscover program offered by Discover Card. ShopDiscover.com is a Discover Card program that goes far beyond the regular 5% Discover Card Rewards program. According to the CNN Money report from Nov. 27, “Retailers raked in record sales on Cyber Monday, as shoppers flocked to their computers and smartphones to grab online deals.” With the ShopDiscover program, the deals are even getting better now and the time has come for shoppers “to rake in” those Cashback Bonuses.
Below are the three easy steps on how to “shop & earn money” with Discover Card’s ShopDiscover program:
Step 1: Go to ShopDiscover.com (not DiscoverCard.com)
The ShopDiscover.com website does not look the same as the Discover.com or DiscoverCard.com websites. The website for ShopDiscover.com will say “The most rewarding way to shop online is ShopDiscover. Earn 5% to 20% Cashback Bonus on every purchase you make at over 200 top online retailers.”
For Discover Card members, after logging in to Discover.com or DiscoverCard.com, the ShopDiscover program icon is shown on the right hand side of the screen.
For shoppers who do not have a Discover Card, going to ShopDiscover.com provides the opportunity to find out everything about the ShopDiscover program without having a Discover Card.
In contrast to the Discover.com or DiscoverCard.com websites (which require a log-in), the ShopDiscover.com website offers for non-members:
- Tour ShopDiscover
- Browse FAQs
- See Merchants On the bottom of the screen
- See Featured Retailers and their discounts
- Watch a Video: “How ShopDiscover Works – Watch and find out”
- See an alphabetical listing of all stores and how much percent cash back they offer
Retailers currently offering a 10% Cashback Bonus include:
- Advance Auto Parts
- For all Mankind
- Banana Republic
- Rosetta Stone
- Estee Lauder
Retailers currently offering a 15% Cashback Bonus include:
- GNC Live Well
- Overnight Prints
- Turbo Tax
- Wine Enthusiast
Retailers currently offering a 20% Cashback Bonus include:
- Vision Direct
There are more than 200 retailers so the above list is only a small example of some of the many stores that can be found on ShopDiscover.com. Retailers tend to change their offers and the Cashback Bonus can go up to 40%. To find 40% deals, click on “All Deals” and select “Ending Latest” to find the longest date that an offer is valid.
Step 2: Start Shopping
After having signed up for a Discover Card and being signed in to the ShopDiscover program though either the ShopDiscover.com, the DiscoverCard.com, or the Discover.com website, shoppers can click on the ShopDiscover icon to the right and choose to shop by any of the following options:
- Retailers name
- Free Shipping
- New Places to Shop
- Holiday Offers
- My Favorites
- Cashback Bonus Choices: 5% Cashback Bonus, 10% Cashback Bonus, 15% Cashback Bonus, 20% Cashback Bonus
- Travel offers
- Product Search (Search products then compare brands and price)
- Deals (Find deals like clearance items, sales, tax free, free shipping, and 40% Cashback Bonuses)
After clicking on the retailer’s name, the shopper is taken to the store’s website and the shopping can begin. In order to get the 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% or even more ShopDiscover money, it is important to get to the store’s website through ShopDiscover.com, DiscoverCard.com, or Discover.com so that Discover Card can apply the reward money.
Some stores will show an additional banner on the retailer’s website saying “Welcome, ShopDiscover Shoppers! – Earn additional rewards for shopping.” Some retailers will give additional discounts, points, and rewards to ShopDiscover shoppers.
Applying points to a customer’s purchase is already used in Europe. Sears uses points similarly. For each purchase, a ShopDiscover customer gets points. Those points translate into money the next time a shopper buys something and it provides an additional discount.
Step 3: Use the money
After a purchase is completed, the amount of money earned will show up on the Discover Card account summary under ShopDiscover. Depending on the retailer, the time can vary. Shoppers may also receive a confirmation e-mail showing the amount of money earned. When shopping at Sears, for example, Discover Card sends generally a confirmation with 48 hours.
The money earned can be used to:
- apply to a Discover Card balance
- pay for online purchases (no minimum)
- get gift cards (increase or even double the money with 100 brand-name Discover Card partners)
- shop at online stores
- buy items, get free shipping, and pay no sales tax
- shop on Amazon.com (any amount of dollars, no matter how small)
- get Discover Gift Cards (Customize the name and design of your gift card and use wherever Discover is accepted)
- donate the Cashback Bonus to a charity and Discover Card will make an extra annual contribution to the charity that receives the most donations. A list of charities is available on Discover Card’s “Redeem your Cashback Bonus” website.
The money earned through ShopDiscover is in addition to the regular Discover Card “1% Cashback Bonus” or any other Discover Card promotion unless it is stated otherwise in a retailer’s offer.
The possibilities to earn money by shopping with ShopDiscover are endless and it leaves Cyber Monday in the dust. ShopDiscover.com offers a Frequently Asked Questions webpage that non-members can visit.
The ShopDiscover program consists currently of over 200 top online retailers and Discover Card is continuing to add more retailers and offers.
According to Tuesday’s CNN Money report, “Online shopping traffic peaked at 11:25 a.m. ET on Monday, and department stores, health and beauty retailers, home goods sellers and apparel stores experienced the most sales growth, IBM found.”
ShopDiscover.com includes all of the above types of retail stores. The stores that were most searched by online shoppers on Cyber Monday included Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, Sears, and Target. “The products that were searched for the most were Amazon’s Kindle and Kindle Fire, Uggs, iPads, the iPod Touch, Legos and the Wii, according to Experian Marketing Services.” Through Discover Card’s ShopDiscover program, Walmart and Target offer a 5% Cashback Bonus, Home Depot and Sears a 10% Cashback bonus. All Cashback dollar amounts, no matter how small, can be used on Amazon.com.
After retailers have “raked in record sales on Cyber Monday”, with online sales soaring to 30% higher than last year’s Cyber Monday, it is now the shoppers’ turn to rake in record Cashback Bonuses by using Discover Card’s ShopDiscover program. Online shopping cannot get much more exciting and “dollar rewarding” than that.
