Last night, all three finalists delivered unbelievable routines and not only amazed the judges: Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman but received standing ovations from the studio audience as well. Tonight, all three couples (Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough, Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani and Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy) performed one final dance before they learned who were crowned champions of the Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars season.
All three couples picked out a routine and their music from a mirror ball collection. The General Hospital star and Mr. Chmerkovskiy danced a Jive to “Cat and Mouse” while Melissa and Tony received a break when they drew a Samba to Rascal Flatts’ hit: “Life is a Highway,” which left Shawn and Derek with a Cha-Cha to Aretha Franklin’s signature song: “Respect.”
While the finalists planned their final routines, Len Goodman reteamed with Season Two’s Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice for Dance Center, which sprinkled humor into the finale while the previously eliminated couples returned to the ballroom floor to perform new routines. Several highlights of the evening were the new Team Freestyle dances, Joey and Kym’s Back to the Future routine and encores of Sabrina and Louis’ Rumba and Gilles and Peta’s Bollywood routines.
Kelly and Val received words of encouragement from fellow GH co-star Rebecca Herbst and Ne-Yo before performing their instant Jive. Len stated that it was clean and crisp while Bruno applauded their precision and Carrie Ann stated they won the hearts of the audience and won her over. Kelly and Val earned a 28.5 from the Judges.
During their pre-performance package, Melissa and Tony prepared their routines and took their pictures from the studio. The duo’s amazing encore received strong comments from Bruno, who stated that she was turning into a Brazilian dancer and both Len and Carrie Ann stated that they enjoyed watching her each week and earned a 28.5 out of 30 from the judges.
Shawn and Derek closed the final with a fiery Cha-Cha that had the crowd on their feet and received a long-standing ovation. Carrie Ann stated that it was star-quality performance and Len called her the “No Stress Express” and complemented her on being able to adapt to whether choreography Derek threw at her. The couple received the only 30 of the night.
After, Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy walked away with third place; it was time for Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet to reveal the winners of Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars.
Your winners are…Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani!!!!
