Tonight marked the third double elimination of the season on Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars. Tom and Brooke reviewed the Judges’ Leaderboard from last night before asking Len which dance they wanted to see the encore for. He revealed they wanted to see Apolo and Karina’s Rumba, which the couple then danced for a second time. After that, we saw behind-the-scenes footage from last night’s show for Shawn and Derek. Tom and Brooke told the couple they had made it to next week’s finals.
Brooke talked to Apolo and Karina and Melissa and Tony up in the skybox before the AT&T Spotlight Performance, which came from a hip hop dancer from New Zealand: Parris Goebel.
The Wanted performed “I Found You” and “Glad You Came.” After their performance, they played clips of more footage of what went on during last night’s show for Apolo and Karina and Melissa and Tony. Then, it was time for the dreaded first elimination of the night. Surprisingly, it was Apolo and Karina who were eliminated, while Melissa and Tony made it through to next week’s finals. Apolo commented on how much he learned, how Karina is a champion, and how grateful he was for the experience before their good-bye video package rolled.
Brooke talked to Shawn and Derek and Melissa and Tony up in the skybox about their freestyle dances for next week, in which they are allowed to bring in extra dancers and put on a full production. Shawn and Derek really had no idea what they planned to do. Melissa said she and Tony felt they needed to redeem themselves in their freestyle dance after season 8, when she felt they could have done better.
In the final Macy’s Stars of Dance performance of the season, Paula Abdul performed, (rather, lip-synched), a medley of four songs and danced a routine she choreographed with a group of dancers.
Derek Hough danced a contemporary number to an original song he helped create, accompanied by four female dancers, who he called the best out there. They slowed things down at certain times, and got rained on in others, but Tom and Derek reminded us it was all live. (If you saw a familiar face, it was most likely because you recognized So You Think You Can Dance winner, Melanie Moore).
Kelly and Val and Emmitt and Cheryl finally received their results at the very end of the show. We first saw their behind-the-scenes footage from last night, in which Kelly said she would spray tan for the first time if she made it to the finals, and Emmitt was proud to have taught his kids something. In another surprise, Emmitt and Cheryl were the couple to go home, leaving Kelly and Val to go through to next week’s now all-female stars finale night. Emmitt and Cheryl watched their good-bye package before taking the stage for their final dance.
It is hard to believe, but the finals will air next Monday night at 7:00 p.m. on WISN 12 in Milwaukee. Were you surprised at who made the finals? Who do you think is going to win? Who do you not want to win? Leave a comment below!
