Viva La Música 2013 kicked off Saturday with one of the best urban music performers in the history of the Latin festival at SeaWorld in Orlando, Fla. It was the beloved and most acclaimed reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee’s first appearance at the annual Viva La Música presented by Granda Entertainment.
The Puerto Rican native Daddy Yankee demonstrated his down to earth charisma, Latin pride, love for his fans and music to a packed house during his 75 minute performance. But before Yankee’s performance, he met up with a select group of fans for a meet and greet session where he listened to his fans and grinned from ear to ear.
One fan had been a part of his recording years ago for a Latin music award show in Miami. Daddy Yankee responded, “I am glad we met this time and now you have a photo with me.” Another fan gave him some worthy advice to always keep positive even if the news about his persona is negative since many young children look up to him. He paid close attention to every word looking into her eyes replying, “Yes it is true, thank you for your touching words, God bless you.” The fan was extremely fulfilled and even received not one but two kisses from Daddy Yankee and a hug.
Back at Bayside Stadium, fans and guests in the stadium and those that weren’t able to get a seat were waiting patiently to hear Daddy Yankee at least from a distance. As soon as Jessica Reyes, Viva La Música’s host, appeared on stage to present Daddy Yankee, the excitement started. Daddy Yankee made his way through the curtains onto the open entry way where he was visible to those that were nearby. He greeted everyone before opening his concert with his 2011 hit “Lovumba.” One hit right after another of reggaeton and hip hop – “Gasolina”, “Rompe”, “Lo Que Pasó Pasó”, “Antes Que Te Vayas Dame Un Beso”, “Que Tengo Que Hacer”, “Ella Me Levanto” – of many more songs that Daddy Yankee sang. He was accompanied by dancers to add special entertainment to his upbeat hits.
Just before Daddy Yankee left the stage his last words to all present were –
Somos latinos unidos, together, don’t forget that. Muchas gracias, saludos para todos muy grande.
