The Highlands of North Carolina are celebrating their sixth annual culinary weekend event to include activities, accommodations, visits to eateries, a taste for all palates and a tour of retail boutiques. Weekend events begin 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012, Opening Night at the famous Highlands Country Club House where tables of wine tastings and chef’s gourmet treats will be served. Expect your weekend to be packed with demonstrations by local merchants, tastings and dinners hosted by local restaurants.
On Saturday, engage in the “Sip & Stroll” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and enjoy the beautiful tours throughout the downtown area. It really is a sight to behold, as the town goes out with decorations, festivities, gatherings, concerts, music events for everyone.

Prepare your senses for a trip to Italy with a Tuscany Cooking Class, experience a five-course dinner with the amazing wines of Schug. The respected and well-known Wolfgang’s Restaurant and Wine Bistro is an area favorite, as the aroma of food tempts your tongue, and captivates your eyes with the wickedly cool array of wine.
Would you be interested in a barn dance, with fancy tapas? Think fresh picked organic produce, locally grown beef, honey, trout, warm muffins, sliced bread and oh dear – dessert. Of course, there will always be the stands to purchase these tempting goodies from, along with the refreshing cheese, olives, pickled goods, meats and herb and spice flavored crackers! Whoa! Whether you are in it for the food or just to give your business to the local businesses, know that you will be well received! Let it be known that there will be music of all sorts – country, rock and folk, all hosted at the Farm at old Edwards Inn.
For the beer lovers, there are plenty of crafts to choose from. Celebrate the intensity of flavors, the traditional foods that are paired with them and how to choose which beers pair well with certain foods, spices and herbs. The best is yet to be! Come and see, enjoy what your local artisans, crafters, wine and beer makers have to offer, show you, teach you….tempt you.
