Fyodor Dostoyevsky: “The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.”

An unsub is killing victims that happened to both have a Magnificent Light connection. What’s great is that the writers entertain the idea that Barry Flynn, the motivation speaker who teaches Magnificent Light, is the unsub. It’s clearly the obvious connection to make, and so it doesn’t seem too unlikely when the BAU treats him as the unsub for a little while. There could have been a scene or two where the BAU questions some of Barry’s coworkers about him and his behavior. The scene with the manager is great, but since they were considering Barry to be the unsub, there probably should have been a little more digging. What did you think of Barry and his message?
The real unsub is named Carl, and he is a superfan of Barry. Carl believes he has a superpower, one that lets him know the sins of who he is talking to just by their words. This is an interesting twist, and it is great to see what Carl sees. What would have been great is if the writers expanded more on who exactly Carl thinks he is. He draws this elaborate drawings of a hooded man, which JJ guesses is how Carl views himself. Another thing that could have been expanded upon is the sheets of paper that Carl writes the victim’s last words on. They seem like big parts to his ritual, but Carl never really brings them up. What did you think of Carl?
Morgan gets invited to speak at a dinner honoring the partner of his father. Garcia immediately makes it her mission to figure out why Morgan refuses to go to it. Anytime Garcia and Morgan have a storyline together, it is fantastic to watch. That being said, it would be nice to have another member of the BAU be there and try to help Morgan like Garcia does. It could have been interesting to see maybe JJ or Hotch trying to help Morgan through this. There are quite a few relationships that don’t always get to be shown. Perhaps the writers felt that no one could get through to Morgan like Garcia could. Did you enjoy Garcia helping Morgan out? Would you like to see maybe the two of them having a storyline with another BAU team member?
