Dallas Cowboys fans petition Obama? Yes, but not for another Texas secession; over 2,000 fans — so far — want the president to oust Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Once “America’s Team,” the franchise is believed to be under the control of an “oppressive dictator,” who is causing the team to have another losing NFL season.
Citing an NFL.com report on Nov. 27, some angry Cowboys fan began a petition to Obama to intervene and get rid of the Micro-Manager-In-Chief Jerry Jones.
As the owner and general manager, Jones is being fingered for staying the course with an up and down Tony Romo and clueless head coach, Jason Garrett.
With the Dallas Cowboys winning only one NFL playoff game since 1996 carrying around a dismal record of 5-6, fans want Jones to hit the road Jack.
The petition from Cowboys fans to Obama read:
“We, the Citizens of the Great State of Texas, and Dallas Cowboys fans worldwide, have been oppressed by an over controlling, delusional, oppressive dictator for way too long. Request the Executive Branch’s immediate assistance in removal of owner and GM, Jerry Jones. His incompetence and ego have not only been an extreme disappointment for way too long, but moreover, it has caused extreme mental and emotional duress.”
Recall that weeks ago when Bob Costas asked Jones if things were different and the franchise were dealing with another GM — other than himself — what would he do about the recent failures?
Jones responded by saying this:
“Well, I think so, because he was there to dismiss. I have always worked for myself and you can’t do that. You basically have to straighten that guy out in the mirror when you work for yourself. But certainly, if I’d had the discretion, I’ve done it with coaches and certainly I would have changed a general manager.”
In other words, Jerry Jones is not firing himself.
It seems the petitions to secede from the Union are catching on as disgruntled Americans are waging a large mix of protests as of late. The latest secession petition — as some on social media call it — while, outlandish at best, is an old tool that is getting a workout.
After all, this is a Democratic society in which freedom of speech and expression rules the day and are inherent rights. Nowadays, if you flip the “bird” at a sign in Arlington National Cemetery, post the picture on Facebook, and upset enough Americans, you can be fired. It’s a numbers game where the majority wins.
However, when Cowboys fans petition Barack Obama because they have fallen out of love with Jerry Jones, it turns a serious tool into a mechanism of humor and butt of jokes for late night comedians.
Nonetheless, if the petition from Texas football fans reaches the required 25,000 signatures, President has to respond. The red state said no to the president’s second term. Perhaps, it would be the big payback to give Jones a lifetime pass; if there was an inkling of a chance he had the power to do something about the gripes.
