City of Palmdale to Host Housing Rights Clinic

The city of Palmdale and the Housing Rights Center will host a free walk-in housing rights clinic on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 1 – 4 pm in the City of Palmdale’s City Hall, 38250 Sierra Highway. Housing rights clinics are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month in Palmdale.

The clinics provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and receive answers about fair housing, rent increases, repairs and more.

The Housing Rights Center is a nonprofit agency that works to help provide equal housing access to all residents in the communities it serves. The Center assists homebuyers, tenants and housing professionals with free counseling services on fair housing law, public education seminars on housing discrimination and housing discrimination complaint investigation.

Recycling center open

The City of Lancaster’s Recycling Center is open 24 hours a day, with an after-hours drop off location for weekends and holidays. The center also includes used oil and oil filter collection areas, separate pouring and container disposal stations, and segregated bins for electronic waste and batteries; allowing citizens to drive up and drop off their oil and electronic waste in a safe and convenient manner. Small Business Development Center

As the local arm of the federal Small Business Administration, the Small Business Development Center helps prospective and existing small business owners start new businesses, tackle current business challenges, and develop the tools and methodologies necessary to successfully manage and grow their businesses. They provide low-cost workshops, trainings, free one-on-one consulting engagements, networking and other resources to the business community in the Antelope and Santa Clarita Valleys. Free art classes for kids at the MOAH

The doors of MOAH’s Hernando and Fran Marroquin Family classroom will open to welcome eager school-aged children 17 and younger with a free art workshop each month. Sponsored by the Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley, all classes included in this monthly children’s art workshop series are free and walk-in friendly.
