Chris Brown said in a recent magazine article that he’s a positive role model for today’s generation of young people, according to Celebuzz yesterday. The 23 year-old singer best known for his R&B hits, smooth dance moves and infamous conviction for beating his girlfriend, says he also wants people to know about his talents in directing videos, fashion design and even his painting. Former “X Factor” judge Nicole Scherzinger agreed telling “Marie Claire” magazine that Chris Brown is “one of the most talented” artists of modern times. But not everyone’s on the same page as a story is circulating that Blake Shelton may be taking his wife Miranda Lambert’s side against Brown for assaulting Rihanna back in 2009.
In November’s issue of Hong Kong Prestige magazine, Chris Brown talked up his many talents that he claims extend well outside what most of the public actually sees. Chris said, “I want the world to see my art and hopefully be inspired by it, promote positivity with what I do now – with painting, with fashion, with directing, with creativity as far as videos and cinema”.
One thing you can’t argue with whether you’re pro-Chris or not, the man does take a pretty picture. Check out his photos for the magazine shoot here.
Brown added that he wants people to not only admire him and his many talents, but be moved to follow in his footsteps. As for his music, he admits he doesn’t want to be stuck being thought of only as an R&B artist, but wants to be “eclectic” and cross over to various music genres, even country.
Chris Brown said, “Not to be arrogant but I want to be the Steven Spielberg of music videos”. He then mentions his painting saying, “I’ve been painting secretly since I was a kid”. Brown has had shows at galleries in L.A. and New York and claims to have sold four of his paintings.
Chris doesn’t stop boasting on just his creative talents, saying he’s an astute businessman who works hard with his creative team on projects in a hands-on way. He wants this hard work to rub off on his entire generation who he calls “lazy”.
“The kids in my generation are not as hyper. The work ethic isn’t there. The attention span is short”. But Brown thinks if they see him doing all he does and having fun doing it then maybe they’ll be motivated to work harder too.
And “Pussycat Doll” Nicole Sherzinger agrees about Brown’s talents saying, “I’ve known Chris since he started in the business. He’s like a little brother [to me]. He’s one of the most talented people in the industry”, according to Digitalspy.
But hold on, not everyone shares Nicole’s sentiment. Rumors are that Blake Shelton may have cut one of his contestants on “The Voice” based on him singing a Chris Brown song. Lainey Gossip reports that after his performance Blake said he was disappointed that he chose a Chris Brown song, and that contestant ended up getting cut.
That may not be hard to believe when you consider Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert’s actions earlier this year. In February the country singer lambasted The Grammy’s for having Chris Brown not just perform during the show, but for getting two song performances to boot.
During her Amherst, Mass., concert following the Grammy show, Miranda turned up the heat by calling Chris Brown out. Before singing her hit “Gunpowder and Lead”, a song about a woman preparing to kill her abusive husband, Lambert pulled a poster out of the audience that read “Take Notes Chris Brown”.
She told the crowd to take a picture of it and put it on Twitter. “I’ve been in a world of hurt with Chris Brown fans…but see, I have to speak my mind because where I come from beating up on a woman is never okay”, she said.
Rumors are even out there that Rihanna’s hooking back up with Chris is what’s behind the major cool-off of her close friendship with Katy Perry. Watch the video at the top for more on that, or click on the article below.
