Get some of your holiday shopping done before black Friday by checking out the cool items up for bid for the online auction to benefit the Wet Nose Pet Food Pantry and 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue. Bidding starts at 9 a.m. tomorrow and runs through 9 p.m. Friday. Learn more online.

Wednesday, November 13
Susan Frank, host of Talkzone.com’s “Wild About Pets Radio Show” will host an hour long seminar Knowing Your Pet’s Health from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at Fydoland in Huntley. You will learn how to do a nose to tail assessment and there will be refreshments. Seeing is limited so call 874-669-9300 to reserve a spot.
Thursday, November 15
Trader Todd’s at 3216 North Sheffield will host a fundraiser for Chloe from 6 to 8 p.m. Chloe is a two-year-old Shepherd mix that was hit by a car in mid-August with a broken leg. She’s now in the care of Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control and in need of surgery. Tickets are $15 and good for two drink tickets, some appetizers and karaoke.
Learn about estate planning for your pet at a free seminar offered by Tree House Humane Society – Establishing a Pet Trust in Your Estate. The seminar will be presented by attorney Peter Canalia and will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bucktown Branch at 1629 North Ashland Avenue in Chicago. Ken Foster, author of the book I’m a Good Dog: Pit Bulls, America’s Most Beautiful (and Misunderstood) Pet, will be at The Book Cellar at 4736 North Lincoln Avenue for a book signing at 7 p.m. Foster highlights the good in pit bulls and works to dispel the myths.
Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19
It’s time for another Tat’s for Cats at Insight Studio at 1062 North Milwaukee Avenue to benefit the cats at Tree House Humane Society. You may stop by on either Saturday from noon until 10 p.m. or Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. and proceeds from tattoos during that time will be donated to the shelter. No advance registration.
Saturday, November 17
The monthly Pet First Aid and CPR class will be held at The Anti-Cruelty Society at 169 North Grand Avenue from 9 a.m. until Noon. An American Red Cross certified pet first aid instructor teaches the class. The registration fee of $50 includes course materials, a planner and more.
Did you know that Famous Fido Rescue and Adoption Alliance also rescues cats? Stop by their store from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. to check out the furry felines looking for homes during their Famous Feline Adoption Event. Stop by 5430 North Clark Street to meet the felines of all ages.
Trader Todd’s is the place from 4 to 7 p.m. to be for the Wild Winter Wonderland fundraiser to benefit the World Wildlife Federation and Care for Animals. This fun, family-friendly event features fun food and Jungle Juice for the kids (and drinks for mom and dad too). Admission is $35 for adults and $10 for kids with Karaoke just $1. Learn more online.
CatNap from the Heart is celebrating 15 years of rescue and 10,000 adoptions at the Double Tree Oak Brook at 1101 Beach Avenue in LaGrange Park. Tickets are $90 each or two for $175 and include dinner, Hors d’oeurvrs, cash bar and auctions. Learn more online.
Sunday, November 18
The Red Door Animal Shelter’s Holiday Bazaar will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Warren Field House at 6601 North Western in Chicago. There will be a bake sale, fabulous gifts and photos with Santa to benefit the shelter.
In the suburbs, you can shop until you drop and benefits the rescued pibbles at It’s A Pitties Bake Sale and Vendor Sale at Mongo McMichaels at 1101 North Independence Blvd in Romeoville. Everything from baked goods to candles to Tastefully Simple products will be available from noon until 4 p.m.
There will be a Vegan Bake Sale to benefit the animal cruelty case in Central Illinois at Quesadilla Mexican Vegetarian/Vegan Cuisine at 2235 North Western in Chicago. Learn more online.
