Celebrate the season with a variety of fun holiday activities to help Chicago’s homeless pets. Animal advocates will be staging two protests on Sunday to build awareness about puppy mills. There are also many options for photos with Santa. Learn more below.

Join One Tail at a Time for their fundraiser at the Nisei Lounge at 3439 North Sheffield. Stop by from 7 to 9 p.m. for great drinks and fun with all tips given during that time donated to the rescue.
Friday, December 14
Join Tree House Humane Society for their Late-er Night Meows, Munchies and More from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Andersonville Branch at 1212 West Carmen. Tree House will be open late along with area businesses. Shop the special discounts in the area and then stop by for a tour of the shelter and to enjoy treats and drinks.
Join Famous Fido Rescue and Adoption Alliance for a Holiday of Hope Celebration and remembrance at the Unity Lutheran Church at 1212 West Balmoral in Chicago. The evening starts with carols along Magnolia at 7:30 followed by a worship service at 8 with a candlelight ceremony in honor of our pets rescued and in memory of those that didn’t make it out of the shelter system. Join Lulu’s Locker Rescue for their Nightmare Before Christmas Holiday Party at the Oak Forest Community Center at 15501 Kilpatrick from 7 to 10 p.m. It is a holiday party for you and your dog that will benefit the FIV cats and black cats and dogs taken in by the rescue. Admission is $15 and includes a photo, pet costume contest (Halloween and holiday) entry and food and drink.
Saturday, December 15
AnimalSense at 1407 North Wells Street in Chicago will hold it’s first Pet Photos with Santa from noon until 2 p.m. Santa will the their for photos to raise funds for Be Fido’s Friend.
It’s time to partake in a true holiday tradition – the Ugly Sweater Large Dog Holiday Mixer at Chicago Party Animals. The event runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and with admission just $10 per person (dogs free) that includes food, drinks and doggy goody bag. Sign up online in advance. It’s time for Perry Dog’s Holiday MeetUp and Toy/Food Drive to benefit the pets at the Animal Welfare League. The event will be from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Chicago Party Animals at 1133 West Fulton Market. Learn more about the MeetUp here.
Tree House Humane Society will have an Adoption Event at Pet Supplies Plus at Lincoln and Grace in Chicago from noon until 5 p.m. Stop by to learn more about Tree House’s mission and to meet adoptable kitties.
It’s a big Sunday for protests to get the word out about puppy sold in pet stores and their connection to puppy mills. The first protest will be outside Mocha Pets at 7537 West 159th Street in Tinley Park from Noon until 2 p.m. Then, swing over to Happiness is Pets at 15647 South 94th Avenue in Orland Park for a protest from 2 to 3 p.m. These are family- and pet-friendly events and signs will be provided.
It’s beginning to look a lot like pug-Christmas at Chicago Party Animals. The Pug MeetUp Group will host its Very Puggy Holiday Potluck and Party. Admission is $10 for adults and dogs are free. Learn more and register for the MeetUp online.
Phantom Note Productions presents a benefit for Lulu’s Locker at Quencher’s Saloon at 2401 North Western in Chicago. Doors open at 8 with the show starting at 9 p.m. Entertainment by Eleven Dollar Bills, Black Cat Heart Attack and Kitty Devine and the Big Whoop. Tickets are just $5.
