Jeremiah 50:6 says their shepherds have led them astray.
Is it not ironic that despite living in a culture that worships individualism, most of us still look, long, and search for leadership? We want someone else to toil over the data, read and study whatever the issue is, and tell us what to do. Our so called experts are surrounded by their own experts. Does anyone really know what’s REALLY going on?
It doesn’t matter whether we talk politics or religion; we want someone else to do our thinking for us. When our emotions boil over we usually only parrot what we heard someone else say. The ideas in our heads and the thoughts in our hearts and the words in our mouths are seldom our own, though we are ready to defend them as though they were.
The good old television told me that most ants are female and they all have the capability of being a queen, of leaving the colony and starting their own colony, but they don’t. They are all like cells in our human body; they function as the queen wills, just as the cells in our bodies, when they are healthy and not chemically unbalanced, perform the instructions of the brain and nervous system.
Do you remember these words, “Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.”? We didn’t lose our freedom this last election-day or four years earlier. We gave our individual freedom away long ago. We give it away today, every time we refuse to think for ourselves.
Technology is truly shrinking our planet. Secrets are harder to keep. The data is available. Neither the problem nor the blame can be laid at the feet of Democrats or Republicans. The issue is honest reporting of the data. If the media, all the media, including Fox News, does not report the data, all of the data, the internet will.
What we need are News programs that report the News; no interpretations and no explanations by so called experts who all march to the tune of their own agendas.
What will we do when we are confronted with the fact that what our leaders say, they and their experts, Republican as well as Democrat, is skewed in favor of what is best for them?
The internet, unsafe though it may be, is a true town meeting and a real tool to report what is really happening, but then we come back to square one.
Can we think for ourselves?
Do we know what is right and what is wrong?
If we are not told how to treat one another can we treat each other with kindness and respect? That is the real problem and that is the real opportunity.
