The political climate clearly is responsible for the divide that is ever widening for America. Four years ago, newcomer Sarah Palin was the brunt of a lot of toxic rhetoric where even her family became political fodder for the left wing nutjobs that stopped at nothing for political gain. The olive branch extended afterwards hardly made up for the damage leveled during the election.
The Obama-Biden ticket out distanced McCain-Palin by a comfortable 59 million to 49 million votes. The vote is even more divided for 2012.
In spite of the political posturing, negativity apparently works. Never in memory has the political mudslinging stooped to such low standards. Instead of talking about the record of policy, many of the media that favored Obama demonized Mitt Romney as dishonest, a liar, and not caring for the poor or working class.http://blogs.cbn.com/thebrodyfile/archive/2012/05/29/example-of-media-bias-against-romney.aspx
One of the leading members of the Democratic Party, Harry Reid, falsely accused loudly about Romney not paying taxes in ten years from the Senate floor, a place where there is suppose to be respect and professionalism. Nobody in the democratic party had the decency or leadership to reel in Reid even when it was proved that Reid’s wild statements were false.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/05/lindsey-graham-harry-reid-romney-taxes_n_1743688.html
The media made no big deal about it either, however they did make a big deal about “binders of women” which was spun as a huge negative by the pontificating prognosticators that screamed like something was wrong. Not only is it politically incorrect to be for traditional marriage, but apparently it is not a good idea to keep a file of eligible women for your administration in case one wins the election. The silliness in making an issue of the binders just demonstrates how hysterical the media can become when it chooses to.http://www.learnvest.com/knowledge-center/binders-full-of-women-romneys-comment-sparks-its-own-debate-123/
Anne Romney had to deal with months of just plain evil intent and nastiness about her husband. If there was ever a woman and family that could be taken aback by the butchery of her husband’s reputation, this large Mormon family was clearly a shining example. The disdain for the family values came out repeatedly.http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ann-romney-says-no-more-campaigns-lose-161316692.html
During the debates, Vice-President Joe Biden was extremely disrespectful towards his opponent Ryan. It wasn’t a matter of debating policy as much as a demonstration about ill-mannerism as Biden interrupted Ryan over 80 times. Biden dismissed Ryan’s economic plan with cute or cutting remarks as “oh, so now you think you’re Jack Kennedy?”http://www.buzzfeed.com/dorsey/chris-wallace-biden-disrespectful-to-paul-ryan
President Obama didn’t even bother showing up for the first debate and spent the other debates more animated but merely arguing that Romney’s economic policies would not work simply because he said so. One was suppose to dismiss Romney’s record in Maryland, his successful business sense which has amassed nearly one quarter of a billion dollars, and turning the Olympics into a successful enterprise after running deficits. The only comeback by Obama was to “trust him”.
The dirty campaign revolted Anne Romney so much it probably prompted her decision to never do this again should they lose. The squeaky clean image of this Mormon family isn’t used to such sewage being sprayed on the Romney character.
While Obama’s changing views were presented as “evolving”, Romney doing the exact same thing was spun as wishy-washy, dishonest, hypocritical and wrong. Romney’s wealth became a perfect target for the 1% which is suppose to be part of the evil empire.
Meanwhile, as when Obama won four years ago, the re-election of Obama was quite probably a catalyst for the real vote that matters…and that was the stock market. Yep, as four years ago the market after Obama won a second term took a plunge of over 300 points, hardly an economic approval.
And it is about the economy, right?
