Boombox Massacre x Boss Fam Officials: Boss Fam Massacre [Album Review] by “Sic ill” D.
Boombox Massacre & Boss Fam are releasing a new album this month-the title “Boss Fam Massacre”. Boombox Massacre is a quality beatmaker from the Seattle area. He has been making rapper/beatmaker collaboration albums since March 2010, starting with Tacoma emcee DoughKain [Boombox Massacre The Mixtape Feat. Doughkain] . He would soon follow up with releases with Awall aka 2piece [Boombox Massacre The Mixtape Feat. Awall aka 2piece] Handlebar Raw [Boombox Massacre The Mixtape Feat. Handlebar Raw] Seattle Hip Hop’s Neema [formerly Unexpected Arrival] [Black Roses] Josh Rizeberg [Rize of the Boom] Un The Rhyme Hustla [Un The Rhyme Hustla & Boombox Massacre] a second album with Awall [Boomman & Mobbin] and now with Boss Fam [Boss Fam Massacre]
Boss Fam Officials are also from Seattle. Their group features emcee Duranged Pitt and also Duce 1, EB, Cyndrome, Doug The Beats & Cutthoat. They can be found on facebook here – https://www.facebook.com/BossFamOfficials .The group is very family like, not having any guest appearances aside from Awall aka 2piece. On the CD many tracks are five minutes to seven minutes long, on listening to the beat you can tell Boombox tweaked the beat to make them sound interesting all the way through, his thoughts.
“Working with a group of 6 people was challenging but in the end the songs turned out well.”
The CD will be officially released via digital download on December 11th. Check out the first single “I.C.T. Inner City Terrorist” on BAND CAMP – http://boomboxmassacre.bandcamp.com/track/i-c-t-inner-city-terrorist-fea… – The review for Boss Fam Massacre is below.
The first track is seven minutes. Boombox begins the cd with an effect of his voice. introducing Boss Fam – The beat has some spacey effects sprinkled throughout the beat
I’m not gonna change who way I am. That’s just the way it is/
I feel myself like Mac Dre but I dont need a thizz/
I been killin tracks like NWA and u know the biz/
I do it big like Flava Flav’s clock, You know what time it is/
2. Dog Eat Dog
The chorus on this is really gud. Nice synths. The beat breaks down around mid way in the song.
3. I’m Fucced Up
A drinkin song, a thizz poppin song. The chorus goes perfect with the beat, both are very wobbly. The sample that loops on here is very addictive as well.
Decent beat. The beat definitely has a vampire feel. Mainstream ready track right here. The emcees alternate on the verses, switching every 4 bars.
“When she finished…she left her mark, I rest my bark, I sprayed it on her chest and heart/
The…sex was dark, [hard to decipher-spits very fast…]/
she got me feanin for the fangs, fell fresh and tarp/”
5. Inner City Terrorist
The background sample is an arab crooning. The subject matter is about going hard as a terrorist
“My shoes loose, I think a nigga need a therapist/
I hear voices in my head, quit starin bitch/
I’m on a suicide mission like the hell with this/
Boom, we some inner city Terrorists/ (repeat)”
6. What it Sound Like
A rare outside appearance comes from Awall aka 2piece. Very westcoast feel. I like this beat. The organ sounds go really nice with the words.
“What this sound like…Westcoast/”
This song is about being real to yourself and not being fake.
“Everything gucci. Bruh I’m str8
I jus keep it real. These lames is real fake
Chi-Town Wins, I’m goin strong
Woofin by the zone, This is my cologne/”
S-T-R-8, I’m straight
8. Last Level
This song is all about video games. The emcee on the chorus sounds like a throw back to a vintage All Eyes on Me – Tupac Shakur.
“Fuckin monster, more guns than contra/
Send em to the doctor, hell be sleepin with the lobsters/
Then try to test me with his Fin/
Then I’m feelin like Jen from final fantasy 10, let’s get it in/”
“Go ahead and ask Madden cuz you need a coach/
Be and my nigga started in this game so we dont need cheat codes/”
9. Conversations (Why You Hatin)
This is a song about paranoia. The cymbals crashing give this a live feel.
“Why you hatin?
Tell me why I am always the topic of your conversation?”
A part from a verse
“As a student I didn’t listen I cut class/
Took ur girls panties and I wore it as a mustasche/”
10. Green River Flow
A lot of references to the Green River Killer.
“See a hater always focus on the doubt/
Still got plenty when we goin thru a drought/
Hatin on me and I know what its about/
Cuz I’m takin vacation, whle its snowin in the Alps/”
11. Take it personal
This song is about bravado and ego from being part of a legit crew like Boss Fam. They are a group who have been paying their dues for years in the puget sound area.
“My vocal demonstrations intimidatin the whole scene/
My flow’s clean. And the same goes for my whole team/
Most these niggas talkin about me stuck in a cold dream/
Tryin to play an outlaw but they Mopreme/”
12. It’s a Massacre
This is the final track on the album. It goes great as a Boss Fam anthem.
“Boss Fam, B.O.S.S. F.A.M.”
Overall I give Boss Fam Massacre 5 stars for its ultra westcoast feel. I did not expect the harsh/gritty beats and rhymes, it is definitely something different than a lot of Seattle hip hop. Boombox also has several music videos to go along with his LP releases.
