Blitz And Glam is for the woman who loves football just as much as she loves fashion. It’s also a resource for a guy’s girl who doesn’t want the guys to forget that she’s a girl and wants to experience football her way. Sound good? Keep reading to learn more about Blitz And Glam’s founder Tamara Marbury and her undying love for football.
When and why did you create Blitz And Glam?
The idea for my blog came about almost 2 and a half years ago. I knew that I wanted to start a blog about football, but I wanted to add my own twist to it. So I thought why not combine one of my other favorite things, fashion, with football, and thus, Blitz And Glam was born.
Have you always been a lover of football?
Well, I grew up in a family of sports lovers so it was pretty hard to not be a fan of some sport. I’m from Alabama where football is like a religion. My earliest memories of football are of my family traveling to Birmingham each October for the Magic City Classic to see my parents’ alma mater, Alabama A&M Bulldogs, take on the Alabama State Hornets. When we got there we would tailgate with other members of both sides of my family (some of who went to Alabama A&M as well) and then go in and enjoy the game.
Football requires a lot of endurance, will I catch you in the field anytime soon?
I actually played co-ed intramural flag football in law school. We had a great team and ended up winning the championship.
If you did play football what position would you play and why?
I’m not too keen on getting hit, so probably a punter, although I think I might make a good quarterback or wide receiver. I have a good throwing arm and I’m not too shabby at catching the ball. I haven’t raced anyone lately, but I used to be pretty fast.
In what ways have you incorporated fashion into a football story?
I have some features specifically geared towards fashion such as What I Wore, where I breakdown what I wore to a game or an event, and Game Day Glam, where I feature specific items, such as handbags, sunglasses, or accessories, just to name a few. I recently began the What She Wore feature, where someone else breaks down what she wore to a game. Most recently Kijafa Vick, Michael Vick’s wife, was featured.
Name a few of your favorite players/teams. Do any of them have a chance to make it to the Super Bowl?
My favorite NFL team is the New Orleans Saints. We started the season 0-4, which I blame on coaching changes as a result of the bounty scandal, but we’ve hit a groove now. Anything is possible, so yes, I think we have a chance to get to the playoffs, but it won’t be easy. It would be awesome to make it to the Super Bowl since it’s in our city, New Orleans, this year. One of my favorite players is Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Besides being an elite quarterback, I think one of my favorite things about him is the way that he leads the team in the pre-game “get hype” chant.
