On January 14, 2013, the Naples Art Association will present Living the Artist’s Life. The 5:30 p.m. lecture and book signing by Paul Dorrell is part of ART Connects, a lecture series that explores the power of creativity and includes workshops for artists about the business side of their career.
Dorrell is author of Living the Artist’s Life: Update & Revised. Both the book and the lecture provide tips to area artists on how to make a living doing what they love most, creating art.
“Only about 15% of all artists make a living from their work,” states Dorrell in the book’s Forward. “Whether you’re an unrecognized master still struggling to make your career click, a recognized master intent on maintaining your success, or are just starting out, I wrote the book for you.”
As a gallery owner and art consultant, Paul Dorrell specializes in helping emerging artists break out into professional status. Dorrell founded Leopold Gallery in 1991. His clients include Warner Brothers, the Kansas City Chiefs, H&R Block, the Mayo Clinic, and over 1,000 private collectors. Paul has written for numerous art magazines and spoken at venues such as the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. He is also dedicated to mentoring teenage artists from urban areas.
According to ArtStreet, Miami Public Television, “Dorrell’s passion is to help artists thrive in what is often an unsupportive art world.”
States publisher Harford Courant: “Dorrell’s book offers a frank and inspiring look at all aspects of the Artist’s Life, from the creative and emotional challenges to the nuts-and-bolts of the art business.”
ART Connects features 12 events and may be purchased as a series with tickets available for $40 for members and $60 for nonmembers. Individual tickets to Paul Dorrell’s Living the Artist’s Life are available for $10 for members or $15 for nonmembers. Paul’s book will also be available for purchase and signing at the lecture.
