Animal Rescue Foundation, Illinois (ARF-IL) wants to announce that the holidays are upon us. In order to celebrate, they have scheduled a few fun adoption events for December.
To kick off the season with a ‘BANG’, ARF-IL will begin preparing for Christmas by hosting three separate pet pictures with Santa Claus events at the Wheaton PetSmart. The dates are: Saturday, December 1st, Sunday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 8th from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
ARF will be using these dates as fundraisers to support their rescued animals as they will be taking photos and processing them to sell. They are inviting the public to share these special days with them and their wonderful volunteers thank you in advance for stopping in with your pets to meet Santa and all of his ARF helpers, including adoptable pets to take home just in time for your Christmas celebrations.
December is an extremely busy month, so mark your calendars, check them twice – bring in all your canine naughty or nice to sit on Santa’s lap. The photo will make a great gift for you – add to your collection each year!
If you are unable to be a pet owner but would like to designate some time each week or even every couple of weeks to animals that are so endearing and so worthy of a forever home there are many volunteer opportunities that you can choose from. You will want to begin by filling out the online Volunteer Application or you can contact ARF’s Volunteer Coordinator.
Once you have been accepted as a volunteer, you will want to determine what type of role you will want to play with this all-volunteer organization. There are many roles to choose from:
· Foster Care Volunteer: take in a dog temporarily, care for it, love it and introduce it to perhaps its first family environment. ARF’s foster care parents are some of the very best around!
· Volunteer Your Time/Adoption Events: Stop in to an adoption event and play with or walk the animals or meet-and-greet potential adopters. There is also always a need to help with ARF’s partner organizations by stopping in and cleaning out crates, picking up donated food, and a barrage of other opportunities.
· Transporting Animals: Far or near, the rescued animals need to get from one destination to another; either from a kill-shelter or puppy mill to a designated ARF location (most times at Spotted Paw Shop) where they will be microchipped, checked over, have proper documentation filled out, etc. as well as from and to adoption events.
So stop in, volunteer, or simply bring your furry friend and your family and take that very special Christmas photo with Santa Claus. Then make certain that you wish all of the great Animal Rescue Foundation volunteers and adoptable pets a wonderful holiday season.
