Welcome to another week of “America’s Next Top Model: College Edition.” Last week, the girls had a challenge photo shoot with dolphins, modeling swimwear from Cedella Marley. The challenge winner received $3,000 worth of “House of Marley” clothing plus $10,000 to be added to her scholarship fund. Some of the girls interacted well with the dolphins, but Leila’s dolphin spooked, giving her a bruise on her hip, yet, she pushed through the pain and won the challenge.
The main photo shoot was a shoot that featured Tyra as their photographer. They had to pose on Duns River Falls, each being given a different material to rock. Leila was wood, Kristin was fabric, Laura was shells, Nastasia was pipes and Kiara was metal. Nastasia, Kiara and Leila impressed Tyra the most, but Laura and Kristin fell short.
At judging, Leila received best photo, but Kiara’s photo was the one Tyra chose to hang in the salon of her home. Falling into the bottom two were Kristin and Laura, with Kristin going home.
This week, the girls arrive home to see Leila’s best photo on the flat screen TV. Laura tells her that she really made a comeback with it, and then she interviews that she was in the bottom two with Kristen, and Kristen went home, and she’s just glad it wasn’t her. The girls start heading upstairs to their bedrooms, and Leila invites Kiara to share the Tyra Suite with her.
The next day, the girls are taken to the Equestrian Center at their resort, and Laura feels right at home. She goes on to explain how at home she has horses, and she loves to ride. She’s lead a very privileged life, while Kiara grew up very poor, and has a hard time putting her head around someone having acres of property.
The girls meet with Rob Evans, and a beautiful young woman, whom he introduces as Yendi Phillips, who was a former Miss Jamaica Universe. She is also a spokesperson for the Jamaican tourist board. She issues the girls their next challenge – to audition for the chance to be in a commercial for Jamaican tourism. They will be filming their spot on the beach, on horseback, and they need to write their own scripts. The winner will get to film an international commercial for the Jamaican tourist bureau, plus get $10,000 added to their scholarship fund.
Laura does really well during her commercial shoot, while Leila is a bit afraid of the horse. After having the bad experience with the dolphin, she freaks out when her horse, obviously picking up on her anxiety, starts acting up. But, in her second take, Leila pulls it together and also does a good job. Nastasia memorized her script perfectly, until she got on top of her horse, then she totally forgot it, so she just improvised. Kiara was a bit afraid on top of her horse, and she started swearing over and over. On her second try, she did really well.
In the end, the top two girls were Kiara and Laura, and Kiara will be filming the commercial and get $10,000 added to her scholarship fund.
Back at the house, the girls view their challenge scores:
Kiara – 9
Laura – 8
Leila – 6
Nastasia – 6
Soon, it’s time for another Tyra Mail. This one features P’Trique, who is spritzing himself with cologne. He says:
“The end is near. I can nearly smell it. Remember to bring you’re a game to the next shoot, because dreams really do come true.”
The next days the girls head to the ocean, where they meet with Johnny and their photographer, Jez Smith. They will be filming their “Dream Come True” photo shoot. If they are the winner of the competition, the ad they film today will be a national ad. They go off to hair and makeup, and while everyone is getting ready, Johnny brings in another gentleman, whom he introduces as Ben Bennett, who is the founder and creative director of Hatch Beauty, the company that makes the “Dream Come True” fragrance.
Nastasia does pretty well during her shoot, but Jez isn’t sure he got the magic spot. Leila had some problems with the beginning of her shoot. She couldn’t get into character at first, but eventually, she got it going. Kiara got in character right away, and she had some great shots. Laura was giving too much of a sexy look during her shoot. The stress is really getting to her. We will have to see if she got something they can use.
Back home, it’s time for the Tyra elimination mail:
“Tomorrow you will meet with the judges. Only 3 will continue on in the hope of becoming America’s Next Top Model.”
At judging, Tyra introduces the judges – Kelly Cutrone, Rob Evans and BryanBoy. I’ll post the scores in sets of 3, in order, Kelly, Tyra and Rob, from left to right.
- Leila – 8, 8, 9
- Kiara – 7, 8, 9
- Nastasia – 9, 8, 7
- Laura – 7, 7, 8
The social media scores are added in and the call-outs are as follows:
The bottom two are Laura and Nastasia. After the social media scores are added Nastasia is going home.
Next week is the finale, and it will include a spooky fashion show. One of the girls seems to have a fall on the runway. While you can’t see her face, you can see blonde hair, but that may not mean anything, since Kiara could be wearing a wig, should she be one of the final two. Tune in next Friday at 8:00 p.m. to find out who will win it all. Then, keep watching, as there will be a look back at the events from this cycle with a second episode starting at 9:00 p.m..
