A Daily Word from the Word for Thursday, November 29, 2012
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” – 2 Corinthians 1:20-22
Do you believe the promises of God concerning you, my brother? Do you believe God’s Word is “yes” and “amen,” my sister? God declares that “all” of His promises are tried and true—not just some, but all. The Greek word for “promises” as used in this verse is epaggella (pr. ep-ang-el-ee-ah), which is “an announcement, a divine assurance of good, a message” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). This is what the Lord just spoke to me concerning this word and its meaning: “you must hear the announcement, be open to the message, and believe My divine assurance.” Pretty deep, huh? We serve a deep Father with deep love for His children. God’s assurance is far better than, and incomparable to human assurance. God gives us His divine assurance.
Do you take the time to hear what the Lord is trying to say to you, through His Written Word and through His still, small voice within you; despite not hearing what you wanted to hear from your earthly father, my brother? Are you open to the message you hear from your Heavenly Father, despite being let down and turned down by the world, my sister? Do we, as God’s sons and daughters, believe the divine assurance of the good things that the Father has promised us? Matthew 7:11 gives us this sound perspective in that “if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”
“Yes” used here comes from the Greek word nai (nahee) and is “a particle of strong affirmation; yes—even to, surely, truth, verily, yea.” Since this word ends in ai (ahee), it is a progressive word, meaning it still continues actively today. God’s “yes” is a ‘right-now’ word for today! It is reverberating and traveling through the heavens, through the stratosphere, through the atmosphere, and through-out the earth, so reach up and grab it! Lay hold and lay claim to the promises of the Father!
We can surely trust in God and His Word. “Amen,” amen (am-ane) means “firm, trustworthy, surely, so be it.” Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines “firm” as “securely or solidly fixed in place, not weak or uncertain, steadfast, immovable;” and further defines “trustworthy” as “worthy of confidence, dependable.” The God we serve, the Father who adopted us is worthy of our confidence because He is rock-solid dependable. God’s Word is secure, solidly fixed in place throughout the universe, steadfast, immovable, strong, certain, and true.
The Father’s glory is His doxa (pr. dox-ah), which is His “dignity, honor, praise, worship.” The more we praise and worship the Father of all fathers, the more we honor and dignify the Creator of the Universe, the greater we illuminate and activate His Word and His promises concerning us. Are you in a funk, my brother? Then praise your Holy Father! Stir up and activate His Word concerning you! Feeling low, my sister? Then worship your King! And through your worship, your Daddy will lift you up through His Word that is lifted up by your worship!
As His children, we carry the promises of God because we carry His Word, His Most Holy Spirit. The word “through” as used here, actually comes from the word “by,” which is dia (pr. de-a), and means “a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act, through.” Webster defines “through” as “used as a function word to indicate movement into at one side or point and out at another, by way of.”
God’s Word functions in us and through us because His Spirit lives within every son and daughter. We are the living promises of God; therefore, if we believe, if we truly believe, then we can make manifest what God has promised. John 7:38 gives us the assurance that “Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” And this deserves a big “yes” and “amen!”
I look forward to meeting you here tomorrow to conclude this life-changing revelation, my family, at our anointed and appointed place, where humanity meets Divinity.
Father, thank You for Your promises, for your assurances of good things. Thank you for being our Promise. Do a deep work in us, to strengthen our “yes” and “amen” so that it brings you all the glory, honor, praise, and worship. We love you, Most Holy Father, and we thank you for the gift of Your Holy Spirit brought forth through the death and resurrection of Your precious Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In His Name, the Name of Jesus, we shout a resounding “Yes” and “Amen!”
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to spend time each day in God’s Word, hearing His voice through His Written Word, and His still small voice. Choose to be open to the message of good news from your Father. Choose to believe what is on His Holy Heart concerning His promises for you. And continue to fight the good fight of rising above doubt and unbelief and constantly soaring above the clouds with the “yes’s” and “amens”; for God, your Divine Gulf Stream, has already given you the victory!
