It’s Christmas time and you’re wondering what would be the perfect gift for your classic rock and roll aficionado. Granted, such decisions depend on your budget. But if you can afford more than a CD or a gift card to iTunes or Amazon.com, perhaps some concert tickets for a spring show might be in order. Eric Clapton has announced that he will begin his 2013 U.S. tour in Phoenix at the U.S. Airways Center on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Want an alternative? How about Bon Jovi, who will bring their 2013 “Because We Can-The Tour” to Glendale at the Jobing.com Arena on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
Clapton starts a one month spring tour in Phoenix that will culminate in New York City with the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Although those in attendance at Madison Square Garden in the middle of April will get to see two days of Clapton playing with other legendary artists, his tour appearances will feature his long time touring band. Opening for Eric Clapton will be The Wallflowers, sometimes better known as Jakob Dylan’s band.
Meanwhile, the second to last performance of the first leg of Bon Jovi’s 2013 world tour will occur in Glendale, before the group takes off to perform in Africa and then Europe. In addition to the songs from the countless hit list that Bon Jovi can choose to play from, Bon Jovi will be playing songs off their newest release, “What About Now,” which will be on sale in the spring of 2013.
Tickets for Eric Clapton will go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are expected to be priced from $44.25 to $120.25 plus applicable fees and will be available through ticketmaster.com.

Just in case your Christmas gift budget allows for the top of the line VIP seating for Bon Jovi, you might also wish to check out the Rock Legends Cruise II, which is a four day cruise in the Caribbean departing January 10, 2013 that features performances by twenty five legendary classic rock bands such as Foreigner, Blue Oyster Cult, Bachman-Turner, Kansas and .38 Special. There still remain some cabins available and you are welcome to place me on your Christmas list.
