America will be ringing the New Year with celebrations and new rules will be applied on January 1, 2013. On Thursday the new Illinois law for in-line high speed skaters was shared by Chicago Now and people were scratching their heads on who might be concerned about the issue of skating on streets. With the exception of Chicago, it’s now legal to skate using in-line skates in speeds up to 45 miles per hour as long as on the side of the road.
All across America the excitement of the New Year has people looking to the future for new opportunities. Of course the holiday also means there will be new laws on January 1, 2013. While some of the laws are quite useful, there are a few bizarre rules that will have people wondering.
In Illinois motorcyclists will be allowed to run red lights starting January 1. While everyone hopes the cyclist will look both ways, the law compensates for the weight sensors on turn lanes and other locations. Apparently motorcyclists get caught waiting for long periods of time as the signal don’t recognize the weight of the bike.
Don’t flash your lights in Florida to warn drivers of speeding traps. As of January 1, it’s illegal to flash your headlights to alert others that police are lurking and looking for speeders. The new law is expected to nab more speeders on the freeways of Florida.
In California driverless vehicles can start using the roads on New Year’s Day. While a human is required to be in the passenger seat of the vehicle, the computer driven cars are expected to hit the freeways all across the state.
While hogs might be cute, don’t release them into the wild in Kentucky. The state has a growing feral pig population and it is causing so much trouble that those individuals caught releasing a pig into the wild will be slapped with a serious fine.
Looking at a map, it’s really obvious that Illinois is nowhere near an ocean, but that doesn’t matter for the sharks living in the ocean. The sharks can collectively stop worrying so much as it will no longer be legal to possess, sell, distribute, or try to sell shark fins in the New Year. While might not seem to be such a big deal in the Midwestern United States, apparently the locals are concerned.
