2012 was a great year for so many artists in the gospel industry. The Gospel Music Examiner had an opportunity to speak with several artists during the year. Here are the Top Ten interviews that captured the most reader interest.

McCoy leaves large footprint at Takoma Park Baptist Church-After more than six years at Takoma Park Baptist Church as minister of music, McCoy took time to reflect upon his experiences as he prepared to move on. He discussed his time at Takoma Park, his musical influences and shared some memorable moments.
Interview with Daryl Coley: Gospel great reflects on his career.-The gifted and celebrated tenor reflected on his career and his influences along the way. Coley also provided words of wisdom for today’s artists.
Jason Nelson interview: ”Worship and praise impact atmosphere”-He was signed to a major label (Verity) and released his well –received CD, “Shifting the Atmosphere.” The garnered Nelson three Stellar Award nominations, including Male Vocalist of the Year.
Interview with Marvin Sapp: Gospel star triumphs with ”I Win”- After suffering the loss of his wife MaLinda, Sapp returned with a new album that includes “My Testimony.” The singer shares what life is like for him and his children after their loss, as well as his current and upcoming projects.
Hip-hop artist Carlton ‘The Apostle’ Neale: ‘God boxed me in’ -He is not signed to a label, doesn’t have a distribution deal, but Christian hip hop artist Carlton Neal is making waves in the DMV and beyond. He’s even opened twice for Vickie Winans. He shares his testimony in a very revealing interview.
Byron Cage interview: ‘I’m just at another place now’- The interview was conducted shortly after the release of “Memoirs of A Worshipper.” Since that time, Cage has been named host of Radio One’s Sunday Joy and celebrated his 50th birthday. In the interview he discusses the album as well as his personal and spiritual growth.
Anthony Brown interview: Singer steps into spotlight with upcoming release-After many years writing and singing background for award-winning artists like Donald Lawrence and Maurette Brown Clark, the singer takes center stage. He shares his musical journey and discussed his upcoming release that would go on to debut in Billboard’s Top Ten on the Gospel Albums chart.
